Policy
Rental terms
These terms apply to every rental from Confined Space Rentals. They are written to be read, not decoded. If anything is unclear, ask us before you book.
1. Rental periods and rates
One rental day covers 24 hours from the time the equipment is picked up or delivered. Longer rentals move to a better tier automatically:
| Tier | Applies from | How it bills |
|---|---|---|
| Day | 1 day | Day rate per 24 hours, each additional day at the day rate. |
| Week | 5+ days | Week rate, always equal to or better than the same duration at the day rate. |
| Month | 20+ days | Month rate, on the same basis. |
You always pay the cheapest applicable tier. We never charge more than the straight day rate for the same duration.
2. Deposits
Each item carries a refundable deposit, shown on the product page and itemized separately at checkout.
- Refunded in full when
- The equipment passes return inspection: complete, undamaged and in the condition it went out, normal wear excepted.
- Deducted from when
- An item fails return inspection. Repair or replacement costs come out of the deposit first, with the balance refunded.
3. Damage, loss and cleaning
- You are responsible for the equipment from handover until it is returned to us or collected from your site.
- Damage beyond normal wear, missing components and lost equipment are charged at repair cost or replacement cost, whichever applies.
- Gear that comes back contaminated, sewage, chemicals, heavy site grime, may incur a cleaning or decontamination charge before it can be inspected.
- Do not attempt repairs, recalibration or component swaps yourself. Report any fault to us and we will exchange the unit.
4. Late returns
Equipment returned after the agreed rental period bills at the day rate for each additional day or part day until it is back with us. If a job runs long, call before the return date and we will extend the booking where availability allows, usually at the better tier rate rather than the late day rate.
5. What we need from you
- Government-issued photo ID for the person picking up or receiving the equipment, and company details for corporate accounts.
- Basic site information: delivery address, site contact, and the nature of the work, so we can supply the right configuration.
- Some equipment carries certification requirements, breathing air is the main example. We confirm operator competency requirements with you before reserving those items.
6. Condition and use
All equipment leaves our shop inspected and job-ready. Gas detectors ship bump-tested and calibrated with a certificate, and you are responsible for daily bump testing during the rental, see the calibration policy. Equipment must be used per the manufacturer's instructions and applicable regulations. Our guidance is WorkSafeBC-aligned, but compliance on site remains the employer's responsibility.
